YouTube Music
Introduction
Is it just me, or is music not personal anymore? It used to be tied to an event. But now music is feed to me by the YouTube algorithm. I guess in my stage of life, music are less determined by new movies or games, because I experience less of them. K Pop Demon Hunters was a case where the music was very much tied to the movie experience.
Growing up, we would hear songs for the first time in movies, but now songs are recognized in movie and is experienced as nostalgia. This transition must be something everyone experiences with age.
Focus Music
This is going to be an ever growing list of music that I recommend for focus (work, research, study), or even sleep. These are music that are gentle with limited to no vocals with no heavy bass. I recommend all of these artist's discography in their entirety. Either start listening from their top songs or pick and album and start listening from there.
- Malte Marten: The majority of his music is instrumental with no voice and when there are voices they are foreign. The choice instrument is the handpan, which is less common but I love the sound.
- The Soul of Wind: Often collaborates with BigRicePiano to create songs that feels like ambient music from anime.
